08/05/1998 10:31:46 CSFB Moscow chief rep to join Russia's Alfa-Bank

Пост обновлен 5 авг. 2018 г.

MOSCOW, Aug 5 (Reuters) - Credit Suisse First Boston <CSGZn.S> said on

Wednesday that the head of its Moscow office Alex Knaster planned to join the

senior management of Alfa-Bank, one of Russia's biggest commercial banks.

"Alex Knaster is moving to the management of Alfa-Bank at the start of

October," the head of CSFB's global emerging markets division Marcus Everard

told Reuters.

He said Knaster's duties at CSFB in Moscow would be carried out by his

deputy Nicholas Gordon Smith until a new head is officially appointed.

Everard said Knaster would continue to work at CSFB in the next two months

to ensure a smooth transition. He praised Knaster for his work in three years at

CSFB and said he was seeking new challenges at Alfa-Bank.

"Alfa-Bank clearly has a range of businesses in the domestic field which are

very different from ours. I think he sees this as another facet to his career as

he looks to broaden his base of experience," Everard said.

"He has worked for us for the last three years. He has managed to build a

business. He has created something now which is very stable, very secure, very

successful," he said.

"He is looking for another challenge and the domestic banking sector in

Russia presents a lot of challenges particularly in today's economic

environment."
