MOSCOW, Aug 5 (Reuters) - Credit Suisse First Boston <CSGZn.S> said on
Wednesday that the head of its Moscow office Alex Knaster planned to join the
senior management of Alfa-Bank, one of Russia's biggest commercial banks.
"Alex Knaster is moving to the management of Alfa-Bank at the start of
October," the head of CSFB's global emerging markets division Marcus Everard
He said Knaster's duties at CSFB in Moscow would be carried out by his
deputy Nicholas Gordon Smith until a new head is officially appointed.
Everard said Knaster would continue to work at CSFB in the next two months
to ensure a smooth transition. He praised Knaster for his work in three years at
CSFB and said he was seeking new challenges at Alfa-Bank.
"Alfa-Bank clearly has a range of businesses in the domestic field which are
very different from ours. I think he sees this as another facet to his career as
he looks to broaden his base of experience," Everard said.
"He has worked for us for the last three years. He has managed to build a
business. He has created something now which is very stable, very secure, very
successful," he said.
"He is looking for another challenge and the domestic banking sector in
Russia presents a lot of challenges particularly in today's economic
